Zoos and Aquariums for a Neurodiverse Ecosystem (ZANE) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization working to foster genuine inclusion and belonging for all zoo and aquarium professionals no matter their neuro-identity. ZANE advocates for embracing the unique perspectives and skills of neurodivergent zoological professionals to advance the conservation mission and community impact of these institutions. We are here to partner with zoos and aquariums to fulfill their potential to be leaders in creating a welcoming and affirming work environment for everyone.
Zoos and aquariums already are leaders in fostering compassion and empathy for all living things, whether human, feathered, furry or scaled. ZANE is here to leverage this strength to the next level in creating belonging towards a demographic that is unconventional but can be a real asset to the margin and mission of these institutions.
